"I'm gettin' SO big, mommy!"

If you ask this little guy how old he is, he'll promptly answer:

"sixty-teen!"

He tries so hard to keep up with his big brothers and (much to my dismay) usually succeeds!

He's tenacious, hard headed, fearless, and adventurous. He's too smart for his own good and remembers every single thing he hears and sees, yet maintains the uncanny ability to not hear a word you say.

He's got a lot of both of us in him.

He's obsessed with anything he can steer, thus his age of "sixty-teen," for he knows that is driving age.

He's so excited to get older, and I cry just thinking about.

We're away right now. We needed it. The kids are getting back to nature (and playing with all of their Pop's motorized toys) and Heath and I are spending some quality time talking about future plans and goals for our family. We feel God's nudge and we're working together to make sure we are faithful in our answer. I think it's going to be exciting, scary and wonderful. Stay tuned!

Pretty

"I look so so pretty mommy!"

"Don't 'cha just love my make-up?"

I should start saying handsome more often... And hide my make-up...

Princess-Man and the Viking

Cash and Holden have a new game... Princess-Man and the Viking...

I'm not privy to all the rules...

It involves a Princess-Man, running...

And a viking...

And, to hear them play it, it must be wildly fun!

Why I Love Having Boys

I would never (ever) get this close to a dying bug...

But Holden will!

"Look mom! He's wiggling his buggy legs!"

Fore!

When you're the littlest of the crew...

And your mom thinks it's okay to put you in a pink diaper (because, for crying out loud, it was a steal)...

It's best to have a good golf swing!

Boys and their Dads

Our recent trip to the lake house over Spring Break secured a fact I've known for a while: my boys are just like their dad!

This isn't a bad thing at all, it's just a fact. They hang upside-down from high places, they skateboard, they build ramps for their trikes and they swim in the Spring. These aren't activities I regularly partake in, although I find swimming in the Summer (when the water is actually warm) quite enjoyable.

But I discovered something recently that proves my kids are at least a part mine:

They enjoy eating sour cream straight from the container!

And that folks, is all MY doing!

Ask Me Why

Ask Me Why we don't cut Holden's hair...

The answer has everything to do with that little flip on the right side. Dig It?

I'm in Love with it. Totally. Eight Days a Week!

Now, Lend Me Your Comb!

This is how we do it...

This is how we do it baby...

This is how we do it...

So, truth be told, we don't live in South Central, but this is how we do it. What's it?

Well potty training of course! Holden has showed interest off and on and we're going with his lead. Lately he's been more on than off and we've had quite a few dry days! That's how I like to do it!

And what do you do when two kids need to go at once and no one will leave the bathroom?

Well, I don't know what you do, but I keep a potty chair in the hall bath just in case. Unfortunately, it's used often. My boys seem to maintain the same pooping schedule and they like to be together. That's how they do it...

When we bought our house (five years ago, pre-kids, but knowing they were in our future) I was so excited about this powder bath. It was going to be a restroom that was always clean for guests because the kids would have their own bath. Sure, it needed some updating. I wasn't a fan of the wallpaper or fixtures, but it was in a great, convenient spot for guests to use.

Convenience is the key word. When potty training began it became a great, convenient spot for little boys. And the wallpaper and fixtures? They never got changed, but that's a good thing!

This door-themed wallpaper serves as a great distraction for little ones who need to take a bit of time on the potty.

"Knock, knock red door. Anybody home?"

And it wouldn't have been financially prudent to have changed the wallpaper out pre-potty training. My boys aren't quite perfect yet in the aim department. Ahem...

And, when the knock, knocks don't provide enough entertainment, Holden is happy to take his show on the road.

You know, whatever works!

Christmas Program

The little boys participated in the Christmas program at their mother's day out program... with mixed results! Holden (front row, next to his teacher in the red sweater) wasn't having it...
Cash (as you can see) ate up the attention!

Both were super cute in their Christmas sweaters!

Holdenisms

Upon dumping the contents of a tea bag on the floor, Holden an I had the following conversation:

Me: Uh oh! What a mess, I'll get you the vacuum.
Holden: Mooom... I can't clean it up yet! I JUST made the mess!

So, he'd been waiting all day to make the mess and needed some time to enjoy it? I will never understand the opposite sex!

But, just in case you're keeping score:

Keeping the fruit bowl in reach

... Leads to...

100 percent...

All natural...

Yumminess!

And no worries when the apples run out...

Just move on to tomatoes.

At least we haven't learned to throw them at each other yet!

When he grows up...

He wants to be his daddy.

And I happen to think that is perfect!

You know what they say...

You can't truly understand someone until you walk a mile in their shoes.

So glad to know that Holden totally "gets" me!

Birthday Morning Traditions

We're big on traditions here at the Chambers house, but traditions don't have to be fancy...they just have to be special.  It's well documented that we like donuts around here.  Daddy even has a donut lady, who makes amazing birthday donuts every year for the  kids.  It's a super-fun tradition that we love sharing!

Here's Holden's birthday donut on his super special plate... you have to be quick to get a photo before it's eaten!
Of course, everyone got donuts and we ate them in our PJs... honestly, is there any other way?
Going...
Going...
Gone!

Happy Birthday Baby

My baby is two today. This always-moving, inventive, caring, building kid-o is always up for fun and games. His newest?

Soccer, of course! What? That's not how you play soccer?

Well, it's how Holden plays soccer, which makes it just perfect for me!

Happy birthday Holden B! We think you're the top banana!

Hot fun in the Summer Time!

We've been spending a lot of time in the water to beat the heat.  Holden loves dancing with the fountains... too cute!
