It's not always perfect... but we try to have fun

I have a hard time when the house isn't in order. I don't know what I think will happen, who I think will stop by and catch the mess, but it makes me really nervous. I guess I just need a clean visual plane to feel secure? Don't worry, I'm trying to work through it...

Regardless of the reasoning behind my need for order, as you can image, there are many days that this perceived need clashes with the make-up of my family. I live in a house full of boys, remember?

I do, however, have several friends who think my house is always in order. So, I decided it was time to offer proof of the contrary.

Here's the living room after a typical Saturday. Not too bad, but it's not our real play space either, just overflow for the blue tunnel and Bob the Builder tent. Please ignore the (ahem) children blissed out in front of the television watching Barney as I attempt to clean. I would never resort to using the TV as a babysitter, so there must be something else entirely going on in this picture...
This is where the real messes get made. Our playroom bears the brunt of the destruction, here it is after some hard playtime and pre-evening pickup.

Those would NOT be dead flowers sitting next to a stack of papers. I always sort my papers the second they come into my house, I totally have a system for that and I always stick to it. And, I would never have overdone flowers still sitting out. To be honest, I would probably never have flowers, I just have an amazing friend who brought them to me!

But, have no fear, Holden is on top of this mess. While dad vacuums, Holden will attempt the impossible, riding the vacuum as if it were a robot. He's pretty good at it, but, unfortunately, it's not yet an Olympic sport.

I have the same clean house problem! I just feel so much better when it's clean. We don't have a play room so our family room is usually taken over by toys. I can't go to bed with dirty dishes- I know I have a problem :)
