Ode to Washing Machines

I recently saw this on a friend's blog and laughed my head off.   Those words are SO true!

Can you image what life was like before washing machines?  I can't fathom having to actually DO laundry.  Heck, I have a hard enough time just getting it in-and-out of the machines... especially out, folded and sorted.  Can you image the hours of scrubbing, adding soap, rinsing, wringing?  Whew!  That's a real chore...

With my new fancy pants washer/dryer combo, you would think I'd be more on top of things around here, but nope... here's the view from the laundry room today.  Does anyone want to volunteer to put all this away for me?
Really, no takers?

Be on the lookout for tips and tricks on how I keep this place in order, get the kids to school on time and keep up with our schedules...  really, my house doesn't look like this all the time...

If I never made another sign/plaque for my own house I would be satisfied with the latest one, which I intend to hang proudly on the door...

"Don't worry, our house isn't always this messy, sometimes it is worse!"

I have that adorable blue, lime green etc sweater that you have for all of your boys. I bought it for Caroline for next year. For the girl version we are pairing it with lime green velvet pants. Sometimes you have to make a boys $3 sweater work for a girl!

If money was no option I think I would throw my clothes away after each time wearing. That means no laundry. But then I would probably hire someone to do my laundry.

As it stands now I haven't won the lottery and I HATE laundry...especially during potty training.

Laundry is so frustrating because it NEVER ends. And not just the piles... washing clothes isn't like mopping the floor or cleaning the kitchen, where you spend a set amount of time and then it's totally done. Finished. No. You pick up the clothes, sort the clothes (ok, I don't sort), put them in the washer. Forget about them. Sniff to see if they have soured. Rewash. Forget about them. Put in dryer. Forget about them. "Touch Up" to remove wrinkles. Forget about them.... you get the idea.

And like Jody, I remember this plaque from my grandparent's house that said, "Although you'll find our house a mess, come in, sit down, converse. It doesn't always look like this; some day's it's even worse!"
