We have a sitter tonight (a sitter I'm paying with paper editing help, thankyouverymuch) and we're headed out to a fancy dinner with friends (friends who know how to work a good group deal at a swanky restaurant). I knew Heath had a meeting and I knew it was going to be hectic, so I planned ahead. And planning ahead, my friends, gives you super powers.
Our naptime today was chock full of occupational therapy, sweeping, mopping, Big Brother Time and a little yelling at the insurance company over set yearly limits for speech therapy, so I knew it would be pretty worthless for me getting ready. So, with everyone awake, I borrowed a bit of super human strength from the television. Did you know I can fix my hair and take a bath in the time it takes the kids to watch their Laurie Berkner DVD? Well, now you know!
The boys needed a bath before the sitter arrived and they love to play in my bathtub, so I turned lemons into lemonade and let the boys splash while I dressed myself and put on my make-up. Perfect!
I took a hint from my new lunch routine and stayed one meal ahead of the boys by packing up homemade TV dinners. This was my lifesaver...
... And the boys thought it was pretty cool!
Since my house was clean and I was already dressed, I even got a chance to sit down with them. Originally I thought I could use dinner time for any catch ups I needed, but today I got to sit. So nice!
Heath got home after dinner and got dressed, then played hide-and-seek with the boys while I cleaned up dinner plates, set up the DVD player, and popped some popcorn for the boys and the sitter. We were ready to go the second that the sitter arrived! That's never happened!
You can't see it in the picture, but I have on tights with my dress. You know, because today (and most likely today only), I'm a super hero.
We clean up nice, huh?

You go, Momma!
Super hero, indeed! Hope you brought your cape... it's chilly outside. And trading proofing for sitting? Sounds like a great deal to me.
Yes, you do clean up nicely! Way to go, Brit! So glad you and the hubs got an evening out.
