Day One: Genesis 1-16

I will make no promises that these will come daily, but, when I can, I will post some verses that jump out at me from my 90-Day study. I'm also creating a mini-curriculum for the boys as I go along. The stories won't be totally in sync with the readings I'm doing, but will at least go in chronological order.

LeavingFootprints

Today covered the creation, Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Noah, the Tower of Babel and Abraham and Sarah. For the kids, we'll be working on Noah this week. Tonight, we read the story of Noah from one of our books and sang "Rise and Shine." Later this week I'm going to try to build an ark with the kids and talk through the animals that God brought aboard - it's a busy week with Cash in music camp, so we'll see how it goes!

For me, as always, I was reminded through my readings of God's promises to me, and my responsibilities to Him. I always find the reading of scripture comforting and am so glad to be back in His Word, with a little accountability from my friends.

Genesis 3:6 - "When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate it."

Oh how difficult it is to not want for things that are unneeded, and how easy it is to transfer those wants on to others in your family. God provides us with everything we need, everything we need. We need only look to Him for guidance and follow His direction.

Genesis 8:6-11 - "After 40 days, Noah opened the window he had made in the ark and sent out a raven, and it kept flying back and forth until the water had dried up from the earth. Then he sent out a dove to see if the water had receded from the surface of the ground. But the dove could find no place to set its feet because there was water over all the surface of the earth; so it returned to Noah in the ark. He reached out his hand and took the dove and brought it back to himself in the ark. He waited seven more days and again sent out the dove from the ark. When the dove returned to him in the evening, there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf! Then Noah knew that the water had receded from the earth."

Patience, let's just say it's not my strong suit, but God's promises are great. My children are amazing examples of God's faithfulness, even to those who are so patient. I could have never imagined what God had in store, I didn't have the capacity to see what miracles God was working until they were right in front of my face.

Can you imagine the relief that Noah felt when that dove came back? I can't even fathom the feeling of being cooped up with all of those animals and waiting for God's promises to be fulfilled - heck, I could barely even handle the smell of the petting zoo yesterday! Thank you God for Noah's example of faithfulness and devotion!

Oh thank you so much for posting! That was beautiful! It was such an encouragement to me this morning!

I think the idea of making a curriculum for the kids to go along with what you are reading is awesome! We had a birthday yesterday at our house, so the kids did NOTHING, but maybe today!

Thanks for walking with me is this!
In Him,
Rebecca

You are so awesome! What a great example to your family and friends! And so beneficial to bring the same things you are studying to your kids. I look forward to hearing about your journey and the things you learn from it! You are a great example of a Godly woman - I'm so glad to have you in my life!
