Could his smile be any bigger?
Cash testing out the "broken" sprinkler with mommy
E. Stone splashing with a new friend
Toward the end, E. Stone got very brave and ran through the big sprinklers with daddy. It was hard to get the shot though, those boys move too fast!
The visit today was really bad and I'm very upset with CPS in the way they handled it. The bio mom was an hour and 40 minutes late to the scheduled two hour visit. Instead of just letting her have the remaining 20 minutes of her time slot, they allowed her to have a full two hour visit. I was livid. If I would have shown up that late, would I have not been in trouble? It goes with the theme I've recognized with CPS, there seem to be very little consequences for your actions. That's not the way I was raised and not the way we're raising our boys.
Needless to say, the four hours of time that Cash was at the office put me over the time frame I needed to leave in for my doctors visit. Since I'm a responsible person, I felt it was unfair to mess my doctor's schedule up because of CPS, so I left for my appointment and agreed to let the caseworker take Cash back to the house where Heath's mom would be waiting on them with E. Further confirming my decision to not let CPS provide transportation for my child, he showed up after I got home in an improperly installed car seat with the straps set to fit an E. Stone sized child, not a Cash sized one. Good grief!
Thus goes my vent - the doctor's appointment went well. I'm already two cm dilated and my blood pressure was a bit on the high side, but considering my boiling anger with CPS, I think we'll let the blood pressure thing slide!

Sorry things did not go so well. Our DSS staff here in our county in NY has a NO tolerance policy. If the bio parent is 15 minutes late for a visit...I have the 'right' to take Daisy (foster child) home. Check your foster parent handbook. Then speak to your caseworker. That is NOT fair to you OR to Sweet baby Cash. Sorry it was such a horrible experience.
I am so sorry about all the craziness of the day and dr.'s appointment. Be careful with that BP, just speaking from a little experience here! Keep a watch on it...if you need any monitors at home or anything, let me know. I've got one I only use about once a month or so. Considering what you went through today, though, it is most likely all the madness. ughhh. I'm with you, I would be infuriated!
Oh no - that just makes me literally SICK to my stomach!! I was so sad to hear it was so hard. Grrr! Take care of yourself and relax tonight! I can't believe you are already 2 cm! Yikes! Please take it easy and take good care of baby Holden and yourself. I can't wait 'til we are back and I can be there to support you in person!!
First of all I have to say that Splash parks are WONDERFUL! We had the chance to visit one on our trip to Chicago last month and the kids LOVED it!
Also, with CPS I am very sorry. I know what it is like to be there with two kids waiting and waiting for Birthmom to show up! Our DSS didn't start having a time frame for us to leave until after 3 months of BM showing up late all the time. I will be praying that something can be worked out!
Brittany, My mom forwarded me your blog, and I get teary every time I read it. My favorite part was when the women saw you at the mall and said, "my God". Working in womn's health and having friends for whom conceiving is difficult, your story is one that reminds me that God is loving...and has a sense of humor! -Jill
