Routine

Tomorrow our routine is changing quite a bit. After much talk and lots of thought, Heath and I decided that an all day school curriculum that has a one-to-one speech/receptive language component was what was best for our eldest. It's going to be a long day for him, a long day for me away from him, and a big change in schedule around here.

Even though I know it's for the best, I'm apprehensive about the change and the possible chaos it will bring to our family. The cost of the program will also change a few things around here, we'll make it just fine, but there won't be extra to throw around and my budgeting and couponing are going to have to start playing an even bigger role than they already do!

I'm so excited to see where this new phase of our life takes Stone. He is so eager to learn and grow and I just know that this will give him the edge that we've been searching for. He will actually be attending two schools each day. He'll go to a speech and language therapy/receptive language program in a private setting in the morning, then he'll head to an afternoon session through our local public school's pre-school special education program. The afternoon program he is already very familiar with, so we're hopeful for a smooth transition.

There is some built-in guilt for me in this entire process, as I'm sure there is with any parent. I feel I should have noticed sooner, I feel there was more we should have done to be aggressive, but I have to stop and remind myself that I'm learning as I go and I'm becoming a better parent daily.

We also started Cash in a speech therapy program through ECI-Readystart recently. We love this program and used it with Stone. It's a home-based therapy and I learn so much from the therapist that I can transfer to our daily routines. I can't tell you what a God-send the therapists are and what an amazing difference they have made in our lives.

Now, off to pack a morning and afternoon snack for Stone, lunch for all four of us in the car on the way from one school to another, and bags packed for both sets of school. Whew, I'm already tired and we're not even there yet!

Stone will do great! He is an awesome kid and has two amazing parents that along with the rest of the family is going to give him all the love and support he needs and that goes for Cash too.

Love all of you lots,

You and your sweet little Stone will be in my prayers tomorrow as you embark on this new journey! Hope he has a wonderful transition and thrives in the new school environment. You and Heath are AMAZING parents-I have seen it just in the few times I have been at your house. Don't ever forget that!

Go Brit Go! You are giving Stone such a gift here. Congrats on your decision. You have all of your friends and family to help you get through the transition and beyond!

I know how you feel. We are on a very similar journey with our youngest. Harbor no regrets. Regrets only cause the worrier angst (and in my case silver hair) and do nothing to change the current circumstances. Stone will be fine. Everyone will need time to adjust, and get in a groove. But you and he will get there!

Providing the boys with every opportunity to reach their full potential academically is exactly the right thing! We will be thinking about you as you get into this new routine, and hoping you see the results your look forward to very soon!
