10 Things I Hate About You

I was a little obsessed with the movie 10 Things I Hate About You when it came out.  I also happen to like The Taming of the Shrew, so it makes some sense.  I'm sure we all have some things that we'd be better off not letting others know (aforementioned movie included).  While I don't actually hate anything about myself, there are some things that I need to work on.  Please now consider yourself an accountability holder...

- I can't focus when the house is a mess - my lot of littles knows this and is actually quite accommodating, but it can get hairy when we have others over.
- In that same vein, I can't leave the house without it being clean - beds must be made, house must be picked up, no dishes in the sink and a load of clothes in the washer/dryer.  This obsession often makes us late, which I also don't like, just, apparently, not as much as a messy house.  I enjoy walking back into a clean house when I return from where ever, but more than anything all I'm doing is ensuring that the house is clean when and if we're robbed.  I know this, I really do.  It doesn't make it go away.
- I drink the majority of my calories.  I don't take the time to eat, so this is how I survive (aside from almonds, cheese sticks and dinner - the only time I sit down for the day).  It's not healthy, I know, but it is reality.
- I don't get angry often, but when I do I pretty much explode.  Again, not healthy.  Probably a little bit of mad each day would do me a whole lot of good.
- I do a really  poor job of monitoring my online time.  Most of the time I spend on the computer is productive, but I've been known to "fart around."  I try to set limits, but have a really hard time with personal accountability when it comes to electronic equipment.
- I don't wash my face every night before bed - mostly because I just fall asleep - and then I wonder why my face breaks out.
- I secretly love the way people look at me when I have all of the littles out in public by myself - it's usually a combination of shock, horror and admiration.
- I put Analeigh to sleep in our bed (alone) and then move her into her room with Holden.  There's less fighting that way.  Holden will just about pull any card he has to not have to sleep and he'll use Analeigh  as a puppet if I put them together.  I'm not proud of this, but hey, it works!
- I have a maid, it's an expensive habit, but since I stay at home I feel like it's something I should be doing on my own.
- Sometimes I get really caught up in material things and outside appearances... I wish I could make this go away!

So there you have it, my current quirks and vices.  If you catch me doing any of these, feel free to give my hand a little slap!

Yay for self reflection! The internet time is a big one for me, too. Not too much the cleaning, although I've never been the same after being pregnant. :-P Isn't it interesting that sometimes "good" things like cleaning can become vices? Weird.

It's where I live. Tacoma is just over the big bridge from gig harbor.

I have the leaving a clean house issue too.

Love the honesty!

Lemme just say... I feel very similarly to the one about secretly loving the way other moms look at you when you're with all the kids. Except I'm very prideful in my attitude.

I'm not in the same situation you're in... by a long shot. BUT I hate to have just 1 of my kids with me in a store. There's something in me that wants people to KNOW that I have 3. And I juggle 3. And I do a pretty dang good job.

And they're well behaved (for the most part, knock on wood) so I like to go to restaurants with them too... to kinda be like--yeah, I've got 3 sitting and eating and you've got 1..screaming.

Every time I feel that rise up in me, though, it seems like something happens to humble me.
